Josh Kalis and hip hop legend/controversial MC Jeru the Damaja have gotten together for a special colorway of Josh Kalis’ JK7 skate shoe. Available exclusively as part of the DC Skateboarding Collection for Fall 2009, the shoe that blends hip-hop flavor and skateboarding heritage is in skate shops now. Visit dcshoes.com for a look at the shoe, an interview with Kalis and Jeru, and an all-new remix to Kalis’ Alien Workshop video part, a dcshoes.com exclusive.
Kalis said, “Our connection started at Red Bull Manny Mania two years ago. I was talking to my boy Vinny Ponte and I was like, ‘have you heard this new single from Jeru? That’s sick!’ He turned around and was like, ‘yo ’Ru!’ Jeru was sitting right behind us! From then it was on. Everything went so hand in hand that we thought about doing a one-off song for the Alien Workshop Video (Mind Field, 2009) specifically for me. I was talking to DC, and they were so psyched they said we should do a Jeru/Kalis collab shoe.”
Make sure to peep the remix to Kalis' “Mind Field” video part. Jeru The Damaja made a song just for Josh Kalis’ part in Alien Workshop’s latest… this edit features that song set to Kalis’ part, exclusively for the DC Website. Go here.
Finally, we’ve uploaded a video interview so you can learn more about the project and the friendship between Kalis and ‘Ru in their own words. Go here.
